Fun, Mindfulness and Movement for Kids
ABOUT

About LittleLight

Why are Yoga, Dance,

Mindfulness and Meditation so great

for childrens' health?

Yoga, Dance, Mindfulness and Meditation bring profound reconnections with our bodies and our environment.

Children learn through play and creativity yet today's children are exposed to a fast-paced technology-based world, which often means that aswell as less time being physical, some children may quickly be drawn to feel emotional, hyped up or may become unfocused or lose touch with their natural creative flow.

When we allow children to go into the magical space of Yoga, Dance, Mindfulness and Meditation through exploring stories and just having fun, they naturally reconnect with themselves physically and emotionally. Body systems such as circulation, digestion, and immunity are rebalanced, they sleep better and develop better social interactions and they reconnect with their inner wisdom which helps them stay centered and strong.

There are many physical and emotional benefits of yoga, dance, mindfulness and meditation,  including:

  • Enhancing flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness

  • Managing stress through breathing, meditation and healthy movement

  • Building concentration

  • Increasing confidence and positive self-image

  • Feeling part of a healthy, non-competitive group

  • Through movement and play, children connect more deeply with their inner selves and their creativity and they develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them, bringing that inner light that all children have to the surface

"In Yoga, when children stretch like a dog, balance like a flamingo, breathe like a bunny, or stand strong and tall like a tree, they are making a connection between the macrocosm of their environment and the microcosm of their bodies"   Howard Gardner, an author and professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

LittleLight Classes

5-8 Year Olds : Primary Class

We do a warm up and some mindfulness excerzies and then we adventure on to a fun story, doing lots of yoga along the way. We do a short dance routine, some fun yoga games or some partner yoga excersizes and then we wind down with a meditation to integrate what we've learned in the class.

9-12 Year Olds : Tweens Class

We always start with a sharing circle to share our feelings from the week.

We do some yoga games to warm up and then a mix of mindfulness exercizes,

partner yoga excersizes and dance routines, followed by a relaxing meditation.
